Sean Morgan wants to go back to HIS way of appointing people to our city's boards and commissions like he did when he was mayor. Instead of the usual way of the WHOLE COUNCIL voting on each of the applicants, Morgan wants council members to be able to APPOINT someone of their own choosing to the boards. This is a really bad way to make these appointments as it will severely limit the breadth of applicants considered. They will not be selected on the merits of their expertise but by their personal connection to a city council member. For example, the conservative majority on the city council will appoint their friends to the Park Commission who will know nothing about the Park, except that they don't like the homeless encampments. Appointments to the 3 main commissions are important because they affect our quality of life: Planning Commission (affordable housing, homeless), Park Commission (park infrastructure, homeless), Climate Action Commission (climate change.)
